This assignment's goal was to introduce the additive 3-d numeric fabrication processes, focusing on the technique through the use of a 3-d printer. The intention was to produce a series of articulated samples of patterns that could be applied at both architectural and human scales. The model was to spatially interweave threads, exploring different levels of intricacy across the sample. Our departure for this project was to think of the object as a field, designing the single module then distributing it as a gradient across the field. It varies in thickness as well as height & width so the gradient would be seen three-dimensionally, but spaced appropriately to link to the adjacent modules and remain operable.
